The Love is Here

Happy Valentine’s Day! Above is an insight into how I shall be spending my day. My boyfriend bought me a box of delicious Valentine’s cupcakes and I shall be curled up beside him today eating those and reading about love (and feeling it).
Mid-week I received a wrapped package from the lovely Alice at Bloomsbury; inside were a copy of Aphrodite’s Workshop for Reluctant Lovers by Marika Cobbold, a bar of Green & Black’s chocolate, and a note to say that Valentine’s Day is a day to indulge in guilty pleasures. I could not agree with the sentiment more. I am thoroughly enjoying Cobbold’s quirky tale of a Romance novelist who has fallen out of love and incurred the wrath of Aphrodite and her son, Eros, whose career has been brought into disrepute. I also have Love by Elizabeth Von Arnim to immerse myself in; after being enchanted by The Enchanted April last Spring, it is about time that I sought out some more of this wonderful author.
Whether you are being spoiled today or indulging yourself, enjoy your Valentine’s Day.

Oooooh those cupcakes look lovely! I am having a day of no books!!! I am also not meant to be on the internet but bruch is being cooked (scrambled eggs my fav) for me so have snuck on my blackberry… Shhh don’t tell!
Think for one day only I can be book free for the one I love… The perils of marrying a non book lover eh?

Stu, sounds like a lovely day! Breakfast was made for me (as was dinner) and we have spent the day together also.
Verity, I’m looking forward to your thoughts on Love. I hope your homemade cupcakes were a success.
Simon, the cupcakes were divine! I was made French toast (I’m not a huge egg fan so scrambles eggs are out for me but I do love French toast and had it with fresh raspberries).
A day without books for the one you love seems like a reasonable sacrifice to me. I haven’t read much at all although he managed to finish his current book before I was even awake!
anothercookie, they were delicious and the day has been lovely, thanks.
Jackie, it was a wonderful surprise! Chocolates and books – what more could we want?!
Ana, you really must! Perhaps in April?
Kim, they were indeed divine. They’re from Lola’s Cupcakes in Selfridge’s (I know how much you love cupcakes).
Claire, I wish you could but they are all gone!
JoAnn, it was and I did

I toyed with buying Love in Oxfam the other day, but left it behind out of Project 24 duty…

Ooh, what a sweet package to arrive! I hope you enjoy the book AND the chocolates
February 14th, 2010 @ 9:40 pm
Simon, I admire your restraint! Perhaps it will be there still next month…
Aarti, isn’t a wonderful thing for a publisher to send? And I thought that packages of books couldn’t be any sweeter

Oo, I love the sentiment about Valentine’s Day! I actually completely indulged myself in guilty pleasures – lots of Cadbury chocolate and a guilty pleasure read and I sat outside all afternoon and got no work done. It was amazingly pleasant.

Wow- the cupcakes look lovely and it sounds as though you had a very nice day planned! Hope that you enjoyed it!

Jenny, mine was an amazingly pleasant day too. We should have more days of indulging in guilty pleasures.
Dot, I had a lovely day, thanks! The cupcakes were delicious.

Looks like a perfect holiday! You’re torturing my gluten intolerant soul with those cupcake pictures. :p I did make GF chocolate cookies yesterday, though, so I can console myself with them.

I’m sorry, Eva
. At least there were guilt-free (and I imagine pain-free) consolation for you.
